San Francisco Photo Spot series: The Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge is like few monuments in the world (Eiffel tower in Paris, the statue of liberty in New York, the opera house in Sydney, the burj khalifa in Dubai), it’s an iconic symbol that almost everyone recognizes instantly. It’s also extremely photographed and making a unique image of the Golden Gate Bridge is almost impossible. I have a strong attraction for this bridge and the map below that shows the GPS point of where I took my images reflects that fact. I have shot the Golden Gate Bridge at night, at sunrise, at sunset, from a boat, from a helicopter, from a car and there are still images in my head I want to make that have not happened yet. Best images of 2012
With only a couple of days left in 2012, it’s time to look back and sort out the best images of 2012. It’s clear that my January trip to Kenya was a big event. My 2012 project to take more pictures of San Francisco is also made obvious in my final choice.

Now, I personally like taking photographs where you can see the city lights. But for your camera to see these lights (and the sky), the city lights need to be at least as bright as the sky. In order to get those images, timing is crucial. First, where is...
New images of San Francisco
This weekend was probably the busiest weekend in San Francisco in a very long time. At the same time, we had the America’s cup world serie, Fleet week, Castro Street, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, Italian Heritage Parade in North Beach, a playoff between the Giants and the Reds and a football game between the 49ers and the Buffalo. Generally, simply Fleet Week is crazy. This year it was overwhelming, and everyone was in San Francisco. I tried to escape the crowd somehow by getting on the water. The bay was really packed but still manageable. The good news is that the weather was very sunny and it has allowed me to take some new images of San Francisco that I was never able to get before. Sailing the bay is definitely something you should do if you...
